COUNTRY MUSIC STAR AARON TIPPIN LAUNCHES LIFESTYLE CAMPAIGN AND NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENT Aaron Tippin Nutrition

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Top40 Charts/ Music City News Media & Marketing) - Award-winning, platinum-selling recording artist, songwriter and producer, Aaron Tippin, announced today the launch of his own lifestyle initiative and the introduction of his personal line of nutritional supplements, Aaron Tippin Nutrition (ATN).

Tippin who made the transition from the center of the bodybuilding arena to center stage in the country music industry nearly two decades ago, has added a new lifestyle product to his weighty list of ‘Can-Do’s.’

In his mid 20’s, Aaron Tippin was a competitive bodybuilder and the regimen became a motivating catalyst; he’s been a fitness buff ever since and now has launched a ‘way-of-life’ program.

‘I was a fanatic about bodybuilding; it was an obsession that drove me,” Aaron introduces. “Over the year’s, the health and fitness aspect (and how I felt each day) transformed the obsession into an everyday way of life-a lifestyle.’

The ATN campaign and corresponding products have been created to meet the needs and desires of all-for those who wish to maintain their overall well-being, the Baby Boomers who wish to remain forever young, and those who wish to make an absolute commitment to change-to lose some weight and get into shape.

‘You know, over my 20-year music career, folks are always asking me about how I stay in shape,’ Aaron said. ‘Exercising and staying active is just our way of life, at home and on the road, and with, my wife, Thea’s, help, I’ve learned to make better food choices and eat right. This is something (ATN) that we’ve wanted to do for a very long time.’

‘Our primary motivation is to promote healthy changes to enhance your life, and your lifestyle, make it a family affair, and have fun at it,’ said Thea Tippin who is an integral pillar behind the premise and foundation of the Tippin family and the ATN lifestyle program.

‘This is a proactive lifestyle campaign that we hope will encourage everyone to take forward-moving measures to maintain and increase their health and vitality-and the way they live overall. That includes changing the way you think, becoming more active and taking nutritional supplements to help you along the way,’ Mrs. Tippin added.

With the primary focus being on the complex relationships that exist between nutrients and the latest technological advancements in nutrition therapies, each and every ATN product has been developed with care and the human body in mind. ‘Offering a quality product is an A-Number-1 priority for us,’ Aaron states. ‘We’ve teamed with a proven manufacturer of nutritional supplements-one that I can firmly put my stamp of approval on. Thea and I have been taking our own products for more than six months now, so we can speak of the benefits from personal experience.’

The ATN line of nutritional supplements lend themselves to all areas including heart, mind, bone and joint; special concentrations such as energy, cholesterol, detoxification and stress management; as well as a daily multivitamin to support over all body balance. ATN products are developed with natural, raw materials and are guaranteed to contain no artificial additives (such as flavorings, preservatives, colors, sweeteners or other foreign agents).

The primary nutritional supplements now available under the new Aaron Tippin Nutrition line of products include:

Acai Energy Diet-an unequalled product created to increase metabolism and promote the fastest possible fat-loss, muscle-sparing results. Acai Energy Diet helps the body maximize its fat burning capacity while providing increased energy levels. ‘This is a great supplement to any diet and exercise program. Acai Energy Diet can help curb your appetite and will give you the energy boost you need when you’re feeling a little sluggish.’

Acai 4 Cleanse-especially formulated for Aaron Tippin Nutrition, Acai 4 Cleanse is a cleansing detoxification supplement to help promote a healthy body and the natural cleansing detoxifying process. The ingredients help protect and promote optimal health at the cellular level. ‘If the body plumbing is not working properly, toxins build up and drag your energy and health down. Acai 4 Cleanse will help you get up and get with it!’

Carb-Buster-is an all-natural nutritional supplement derived from the white kidney bean. It slows down the digestion of starch (inhibiting alpha-amylase, an enzyme that breaks down starch) thereby becoming more absorbent by the body. ‘As a bonus, Carb-Buster can help you control and balance blood sugar levels.’

Daily Defense Anti-Aging Formula-was designed to provide precursor nutrients to help boost the body’s natural (HGH) levels-an element key in supporting the anti-aging process. ‘We’ve studied up on this…by increasing the HGH levels in your body, many of the signs and effects of aging (like low energy levels, memory loss, thinning hair, reduced skin elasticity, etc.) can be slowed, and we’re all for that!’

Daily Defense Greens-in tablet form is a balancing formula to support and maintain wellness overall. Organically grown, Daily Defense Greens contains green vegetables, sprouted grains, grasses, fibrous herbs, anti-oxidants and MSM (Methylsulfonymethane). Daily Defense Greens will help increase energy levels and relieve the body from fatigue and stress. ‘This has the nutritional benefits of 2 lbs. of fresh vegetables! We all know what mom has said for years about eating your vegetables! Greens are just good for you.’

Keeping the pace with Americans’ ever-changing way of life, their hunger for perfection and natural instinct to ‘be the best they can be,’ ATN will faithfully introduce contemporary supplements-including a men and women’s daily multivitamin which will be available in the coming months.

‘It’s our goal to help folks ‘get with it and stick with it,’ or just encourage them to start living better so they can continue to pursue all the things they enjoy and ‘live’ longer. It’s as simple or as hard as you want to make it. If you make the decision about ‘you,’ it’s a commitment ‘you’ can make for a lifetime and ATN’s motto is ‘living well…for the time of your life!’ There’s no better time to start than right now,’ Aaron concluded.

The 50-year-old father of three remains steadfast in his commitment to his career, his family, and his lifestyle. A man who ’stands for something’ and whose music ’speaks’ to country music fans worldwide, with 5 Million records sold, Aaron Tippin has become one of the most recognizable and influential voices in our country and others. Aaron Tippin has 13 recorded CD’s to his name and more than 30 charted singles (including the No. 1 singles “There Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong with the Radio,” “That’s as Close As I’ll Get To Loving You” and “Kiss This”). His musical messages are plain and simple-touting the struggles and triumphs of the working class-and it is his music that has enabled him a personal kinship with country music listeners across the globe. Aaron Tippin Nutrition is yet another avenue to reach one and all to make a difference in their lives.

Fitness center offers free yoga classes for cancer patients

In an effort to help women battling or recovering from cancer, Hollywood’s Lady of America Fitness Center is offering free Yoga classes to cancer patients and survivors.

Carol Berkson, co-owner of the fitness center with Judy Scott, said exercise benefits women undergoing cancer treatment through helping them cope with insomnia, fatigue and other effects of treatment, and benefits survivors through helping them rebound from their illnesses.

“Exercise for cancer patients is a great outlet,” Berkson said. “For one hour a day, they’re not focusing on cancer.”

Personally knowing people who battled cancer motivated the two owners to begin this program. They know how much exercise benefits all individuals.

“I hope they feel healthier after taking the classes,” Berkson said. “Unfortunately there is so much cancer around, and we just feel that the benefits of exercise are so important.”

Berkson said she and Scott wanted to give back to the community and people personally affected by cancer. These classes provided the opportunity to do it. The owners ensure that potential participants will love the classes.

People interested in taking the classes may participate in two classes a week for two months. Berkson and Scott offer five, one-hour classes a week: Mondays at 7:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m., Fridays at 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 1 p.m.

Anyone interested in scheduling her first appointment should call 954-966-5239. The fitness center is located at 5361 Sheridan St.

The power of yoga

Published by naturalbbevents under yoga Edit This

Yoga, or hatha yoga, is an ancient form of exercise and mind/body control from which we can all greatly benefit.  It began in India circa 2000-1000 BCE as a form of meditation.  It appeared in ancient holy texts such as the Upanishads and soon developed into breathing practices and body positions designed to discipline the mind and strengthen the body and soul. The word “yoga” means “to unite” or “to join”.

When someone practices yoga, they are developing stronger muscles and greater flexibility. It is best not to push into poses but ease into them, allowing for the muscles to naturally develop over time. Yoga is not a race or competition, and should be very comforting and relaxing, not painful. When practiced correctly, yoga should release long- held tension in the back, neck and shoulder areas. It should also produce a sense of awareness of your body and space.

Over time, one’s breath becomes slower and deeper throughout the poses, and the heart rate actually slows. Contrary to cardiovascular routines, yoga will lower blood pressure and improve blood circulation to the extremities. In this regard, yoga is considered ideal for diabetes patients and those with circulatory problems.   It is also ideal for those with hypertension and stress (all of us in the metropolitan region?).

Yoga is also great for children. It helps children build confidence in themselves and trust in others.   It helps to develop themes of discipline, focus and balance. It also helps them to learn to love and respect their bodies at a young age, which is so rare in today’s busy times. You are sure to catch a smiling face on a child as they stop squirming and suddenly morph into a “cat”, “dog” or “tree”.

Award winning yoga studios in Baltimore include Beyond Postures, Charm City Yoga, and Evolve Well Healing Arts Studio.  Evolve Well Healing Arts Studio has classes especially designed for children and families.  Established studios in greater Maryland include Golden Heart Yoga in Annapolis, Balance Pilates and Yoga Studio in Bethesda, and Willow Street Yoga in Takoma Park.

Those who practice yoga consistently will start to develop muscles in the torso, arms, legs and back.  Overall posture and one’s confidence in their body also improve. Those who consistently practice for years will begin to develop the mindset of a “Yogi”; one of inward peace and outward compassion.

Yoga Nidra

Published by naturalbbevents under yoga Edit This

‘Just relax!’ So easy to say, so hard to do…without a little help. And that’s exactly what Yoga Nidra from Yoga for the Mind can do. It can help you to relax , help you to sleep and help you to reduce stress . It can help you be calm in a frantic world. It can help you find more energy for all the things you need to do…and want to do. And it’s all about you. Each relaxation CD is personalized - with your name in the audio, on the disc and cover. It’s a personalized gift just for you.

Yoga Nidra is a special kind of yoga that focuses solely on relaxation - specifically ‘guided relaxation’. If you have attended yoga classes, you may have experienced something a little like it if your teacher has asked you to lie down and to listen to their voice while they talk you through visualisations for example. Although this doesn’t take you as ‘deep’ as yoga nidra, for many, it is still the highlight of their yoga session - guided relaxation is a wonderful, calming experience.

Yoga Nidra is like having meditation done for you.

It literally means ‘awareness sleep’ and relies on the teacher’s voice to take your mind away from all the stresses and challenges in your life, and to help you achieve a deep and rejuvenating rest. And its real beauty is that you can do it at home. Thanks to the Yoga for the Mind CD, your teacher is available whenever you want!

Yoga for the Mind was created by Sheena O’Beirne and Peter Barnes

Sheena is a yoga teacher and naturopath who has found yoga nidra of enormous benefit to her patients, friends and family

Peter is an Associate of the London College of Music

Both are authors, published by Penguin

Power yoga, the fitness mantra

Published by naturalbbevents under yoga Edit This

New Delhi (IANS): In this age of treadmills and ab crunchers, Bollywood actresses like Kareena Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty and Kangana Ranaut are among those banking on power yoga to shed extra pounds and look picture perfect at all times.

New age fitness gurus and yoga teachers who train Bollywood stars say the benefits of power yoga - a fast-paced and strenuous variant of the traditional Indian fitness technique - are indeed rewarding.

Power yoga and fitness consultant Leena Mogre, who has trained the likes of Katrina Kaif, Kangana and Sameera Reddy among others, says celebrities are increasingly getting hooked to power yoga.

“Most celebrities go for power yoga, which is a dynamic form of the art. They are getting inclined towards it because the benefits are beautiful and it has spiritual, meditational and overall advantages,” Mogre told IANS.

“Suddenly everyone has realised the importance and the worth of this form, which is really good. It is great for the body and if a good combination of yoga and other exercises are adopted, the results are great,” she said.

Power yoga includes strenuous exercises and this trend started during the mid-1990s. The who’s who of Bollywood now boast of having adopted the method to acquire a perfect figure.

“I am completely into yoga. I think yoga has changed my life. My morning yoga practice that I do for an hour-and-a-half every day is something that keeps me going,” said Kareena, whose toned body and size zero became the talk of the town.

“The day I don’t do it, I feel that my day doesn’t go well and I haven’t completed a task that I had to do,” she added.

Shilpa, who has one of the best bodies in Hindi filmdom, is into yoga in a big way and even brought out a CD called “Shilpa’s Yoga”, which was released in June 2008.

“Yoga keeps my mind, body and soul fit. I had a neck problem and suffered from chronic spondylitis. So I started practicing yoga. I took professional training and it really benefited,” the actress told IANS.

“I don’t believe in starving myself to remain thin. I eat well, work out and practise yoga to remain healthy. If you want to get peace for the mind, body and soul, yoga is the only answer,” she added.

While young actresses have opted for power yoga, yesteryear beauties like Hema Malini and Rekha stick to the traditional yoga form and maintain that the practice has helped them maintain their charisma and keeps health problems at bay.

“Apart from dancing, one thing that I swear by is yoga. That’s the secret of my fitness,” Hema Malini had said.

Getting inspired by the well-toned frames and sculpted bodies of our cine stars, health-conscious Indians too are embracing yoga in a big way.

“I have been gymming for the past two years, but somehow didn’t get the desired results. Then I came to know that most people from the film world are making yoga a part of their fitness regimes and getting desirable bodies. So I also took to yoga and do it regularly,” Pallavi Dasgupta, a 22-year-old MBA student, told IANS.

Even yoga instructors are getting lucrative deals in terms of increased clientele.

“In the recent past, my clientele has increased. Especially young girls inspired by Kareena Kapoor, who lost oodles of weight owing to yoga, are coming to me to lose those extra kilos,” said Yatharth Sehajpal, a Delhi-based yoga instructor.

Bringing yoga back to the planet Earth

Published by naturalbbevents under yoga Edit This

Modern yoga comes with a lot of baggage and stereotypes. Some people think yoga involves the metaphysical, chanting, incense, ambient music, pretentious yogi hippies or yogi yuppies and outrageous pricing for instruction.

Forget everything you think you know about yoga when talking to Bryan Kest.

Kest moved to Santa Monica over 25 years ago and has been teaching yoga ever since. He opened up the first donation-based yoga studio in the United States 14 years ago above the RadioShack on Sixth Street and Santa Monica Boulevard.

A lot of other yoga studios, some who charge $20 per class, thought that Kest could only could keep his studio running because he had minuscule expenses with a small upstairs space, he said.

“They were saying he’s in some dungeon above radio shack,” Kest said. “They we’re getting defensive even though I never said anything about them.”

Four years ago, Kest opened another space on Second Street that has the most expensive rent for a yoga studio in Santa Monica, he said while cracking his knuckles. Kest wanted to prove to the yoga community and the world that a large studio with significant expenses could run solely on donations.

“If we look out for [students], then the universe will naturally look out for us,” Kest said.

Kest originally opened up a donation-based studio because he wanted yoga to be available to everyone. Yoga is notorious for attracting affluent people because of time and money constraints. Poor people are too busy working to have time to do yoga, Kest said.

“We do get a lot of struggling artists … and more ethnic variety than any other studio,” Kest said. “It is kind of a luxury.”

advertisement
This aspect of the class resonates with most long time students.

“I love that it’s donation-based. It gives a different spirit to the class,” artist Lola del Fresno said. “It helps me go inside, I go very deep.”

Kest, a Detroit native, started his yoga practice long before he ended up in Santa Monica. At age 15 he spent the summer with his father, who moved to Hawaii. For someone who is so influential in the yoga community, Kest discovered his practice in a rather unusual way.

“My father said, ‘Do yoga or get the hell out of the house,’” Kest said. “I didn’t have a choice.”

Kest’s father was so adamant about his son practicing because it was the only thing that helped his back problems. His father also knew if he didn’t push Kest then he would never practice because of his young age. It took Kest around six months to start appreciating yoga and its effects on the mind, he said.

In Hawaii during the ’70s, Kest practiced with a nuclei of yogis that are partially responsible for the yoga explosion today. Under the tutelage of David Willams, the first American to teach Ashtanga yoga, many influential teachers such as Tim Miller, David Swenson and Danny Paradise spread the practice to mainland America, Kest said.

Kest ended up in L.A. for simple reasons.

“Every kid growing up in Detroit has a fantasy about coming to California and I just did it,” Kest said.

Santa Monica has a cleanest air in the are so he decided to open his studio here.

“You can go deep into L.A. and be in some of the most dirty air on the Earth,” he said.

At his studio, Kest teaches a variation of Ashtanga called Vinyasa or power yoga. This is similar to classic yoga taught in India, but changed to fit the needs of American lifestyle, Kest said. Out of the 5,000 types of yoga in India, power yoga is simply one more variation or correction on the other forms, he said.

“It’s deeply aligned with the principles of yoga that come from India,” Kest said. “I’ve definitely changed it to fit my own personal needs.”

No other exercise focuses on the stress and busyness that is ingrained in American culture, Kest said. Therefore he’s changed the practice to reflect a fast paced lifestyle.

Today, Indians have adopted a more Western mindset and looking towards America for yoga guidance. In essence we’ve switched roles, he said.

“We had organization, technology and this amazingly run capitalistic market … .They had depth, richness, culture and spirituality; and we are like we want that,” Kest said. “All this rat race left us feeling empty.”

Yoga removes people from the constant “rat race” temporarily by fostering awareness. Even though there are 5,000 types of yoga, the emphasis on complete concentration, focus and awareness binds them all, Kest said.

“If you’re practicing yoga correctly you’re meditating,” Kest said. “The idea [is] that we are all part of the whole and we’re trying to realize it.”

Meditation is partially developed by the workout during class.

“It’s still very intense, you’re going to sweat in my class,” Kest said.

The class’ rigor fosters mental patience and awareness.

Once people become aware of their surroundings they can ask real questions, especially regarding wellness.

It’s known in the medical community that 90 per cent of all disease manifests itself in the brain, Kest said.

“If you’re just a little smarter than a monkey and you want to be healthy you know you have to look at your mental state,” Kest said. “If you really want to be healthy take a long walk … get on the floor and do some stretching … don’t overeat and don’t under eat.”

Kest asked, “How come there are 20 machines for my butt cheeks and biceps and not one for my spine … or my toes or my wrists or my anal sphincter?

“It’s all like were a bunch of [expletive] drones going along with status quo,” Kest said. “It’s literally like we’re robots.”

Most Americans emphasis the vanity aspect of fitness, but disregard what’s known to promote wellness, Kest said.

“People bring their [poop] into yoga and turn yoga into [poop],” Kest said.

During the latest yoga wave, many teachers have come out against Kest saying that his yoga is sloppy. A lot of people don’t like Kest because he doesn’t fall into the archetypal or stereotypical mold of a yoga teacher, he said.

“A lot of teachers want to show you the way,” New Yorker Greg Gumucio, the founder of the only other donation-based yoga studio in America, said. “He doesn’t come across as some guru.”

Most would regard Kest as simple and straightforward. He’s just a yoga instructor.

“I’m not pretending to be someone that I’m not,” Kest said.

Arthritis sufferers benefit from the healing powers of yoga

Published by naturalbbevents under yoga Edit This

As an increasing amount of research points to the health benefits of physical activity for those with rheumatic conditions, one type of exercise in particular seems to be growing in popularity - yoga. With a range of styles and forms to suit all levels of mobility, this ancient practice aimed at increasing flexibility, muscle tone, balance and strength is quickly becoming the activity of choice for a large number of rheumatic patients.

According to the American College of Rheumatology, “physical activity is an essential part of the effective treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.” Inactivity, says the American Yoga Association, can weaken muscles and increase stiffness and pain.Yoga postures that loosen joints and relax large muscle groups can be instrumental in alleviating the pain associated with arthritis.

The popularity and efficacy of yoga among the rheumatic community was the inspiration behind Power of Movement 2009 – a nationwide yoga challenge to raise funds and awareness for arthritis and related autoimmune disorder research. On February 22, thousands of Canadians in ten major cities and smaller communities across the country came together to participate in one hour of yoga, after collecting pledges of support from family and friends and raised more than $250,000, which will help to fund critical arthritis research.

For the 4.5 million Canadians suffering from arthritis and autoimmune conditions, yoga is believed to have remarkable therapeutic effects, easing painful symptoms while also providing stress relief.

Jennifer Mason, a rheumatoid arthritis sufferer, was diagnosed in 1979, and has experienced physical immobilization from her disease. “The damage to my hands from arthritis was so severe that it ended my ability to play my musical instruments. It’s devastating to lose something that’s your livelihood as well as your love,” she explains.

When Mason first tried yoga, she had to practice from a chair, as her joint stiffness and pain would not permit her to engage in the full range of yoga postures. Today, she is able to perform many complicated postures and has greatly increased her physical mobility. She credits the combination of dedicated yoga practice and drug therapy for her improved mobility.

Mason is hopeful events like Power of Movement will not only increase public awareness about inflammatory rheumatic disease, but will also lead to increased investment in arthritis research. “Because of research, someone who is diagnosed today with rheumatoid arthritis like me will not have to experience extensive pain and joint destruction,” she says.

After making the connection between her own chronic back pain and yoga, Erin Moraghan, senior development officer for the Arthritis & Autoimmunity Research Centre (AARC) Foundation at University Health Network was inspired to start Power of Movement in support of much needed arthritis research. “It was a natural fit,” says Erin. “Our goal is to get Canadians, in particular those living with arthritis and autoimmune conditions, to celebrate their movement and raise funds to support break-through research happening in our country.”

The condition is among the top three most common chronic diseases in Canada, and accounts for over ten per cent of the total financial burden of all illnesses in Canada. Yet only 1.3 per cent of attributed health science research funding is dedicated to this area.

University Health Network boasts some of the world’s most renowned arthritis scientists, who have contributed to some of the most significant breakthroughs in arthritis and autoimmune treatments to date, and their collaboration with fellow researchers across the country keeps Canada at the centre of innovative discoveries. But the momentum needs to continue.

Power of Movement hopes to continue to grow to help meet the challenge of finding a cure for arthritis and autoimmune disorders. What started as a grassroots initiative in 2007, with one yoga class in Toronto and a fundraising goal of $10,000, has accumulated more than $350,000 and has spread coast to coast in only a few years.

“We are thrilled by the amount of support Power of Movement has received,” says Erin Moraghan. “The event is a fun and easy way to stay mobile and healthy, while at the same time supporting life-changing research for arthritis and diseases like lupus, vasculitis and osteoporosis.”

I had a neck problem and suffered from chronic spondylitis. So I started practicing yoga. I took professional training and it really benefited,” the actress said.

So I also took to yoga and do it regularly,” Pallavi Dasgupta, a 22-year-old MBA student, said.
